Trichocerca stylata Gosse 1851
Trichocerca stylata, a specimen from (1); lateral view. This species is characterized by a red eyespot which is located at the dorsal side of the middle of the brain; which is in contrast to Trichocerca pusilla. It is also worth mentioning that T. stylata and T. pusilla were found in the same habitat at the same time.

Trichocerca stylata, same specimen; different focus plane. This species is characterized by a large foot gland (FG). The relative toe-length of the left toe (ratio= total length: toe length ≈4:1) is slightly shorter than in T. pusilla.

Trichocerca stylata, lateral view of posterior part of a slightly compressed specimen from (2) which is being macerated for trophi analysis. The ratio of the length of left toe vs. right toe is approx 2:1. which is also in contrast to Trichocerca pusilla. The image also shows the big foot gland (FG).

Trichocerca stylata, virgate trophi; Fu: fulcrum; Ma: left and right manubria; R: rami; SR: suprarami. In contrast to T. pusilla the fulcrum of this species has no T-formed distal end.
